Believe it or not… (or yes yes we are only 1 human)

July 8th, 2008 · No Comments

OK I finished the Marine Corp Emblem section that I showed in the recent video. Its off the machine and its gorgeous. Just have to Semper Fidelis the ribbon for the Eagle and off it goes. I’ve been a crazy knitting and crocheting fool because I’ve been away from home more than I’ve been home which really has an impact on my blogging and podcasting.

Had the opportunity to work with a machine knitter early last week. She’s just gotten a lovely Brother 910 that she is learning. Gave her a first lesson, couple of cast ons and offs, and practice and left her with homework to accomplish.

I’ll have to follow up there right after vacation. Hubby and I are headed to New Orleans for 5 days of heat, just like home, and fun unlike all the work at home. A much needed sanity break. We took a mini non sanity break visiting the Grand Kids and their parents in Virginia. They are moving to Orlando we think so, visits might become fewer and farther between there.

I continue to update the MK World Map and hope everyone reading this has taken the time to either add themselves or have me add you to the Map. Its pretty full for the U.S. some areas need help. Other countries are pretty devoid of any MK info.

So, forgive my snails pace at things. I’ve promised alot and not followed through. Stay tuned though! Big things coming!

Episode 10 - CNY Machine Knitters Make Yarn Swifts

May 11th, 2008 · No Comments

The CNY Machine Knitters group meets monthly. Saturday was our May meeting. We had some amongst us who have wanted to make yarn swifts. SO, we did! We had so much fun too!

The CNY Machine Knitters have to thank two helpful Husbands: Casey R and Bob T for their technical expertise, patience, and assistance!

Our initial plan was based on this . We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Erica for sharing her plans.

Here is a short podcast that Lorraine Merrill and I did as a result.

Where the H*** has she been?

April 29th, 2008 · No Comments

I’ve been machine knitting. If I haven’t been machine knitting I’ve been doing something fiber related. If I haven’t been knitting or doing something fiber related I’ve been taking pictures or talking about knitting.

In my spare time…. I’ve been working.

I’ve recorded the next Podcast episode 3 times, it gets better every time. I have issues with what is good enough and what is done.

Special Guest Karen Lothrop joins me via telephone and we
discuss … well a bunch of stuff.  No real techniques.
Just a nice conversation, our first of what I hope will be many.

During
and before the Podcast
Kar
en told me she had trashed
her
room.  You know… we didn’t
define what Karen calls her "room".
I’ll have to find that out.
Karen was looking for some yarn.
Does this ever happen to you?
Your room gets absolutely thrashed
because you wanted one  skein or
ball from your stash?  I definitely recognize these  pictures.

These are by the way the pictures of
Karen’s room as she was looking
at it AS we were talking.

I wonder if she found her yarn?

I’ve known Karen and her work for years.
She won the Carolinas Machine Knitting Guild Contest in 2007 but I’ll be
darned if I could find a picture of it anywhere to share here.  Visit this
talented machine knitter’s Blog Site for
more.

Here is a great  story…  I was doing a crossword puzzle this weekend.
Laying on my couch feeling sorry for my stuffy nose (we
have the flu).
What’s a 5 letter word for skeins of yarn?
I sat there for 10 minutes screaming at my brain!
Sigh… yes I know….

now.

Knit with you later?

We interrupt that afghan …. Episode 6

March 26th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Podcasts for Machine Knitters Episode 6  <Right Click & Save Target as for the podcast! In this episode the Marine Afghan is interrupted for emergency Pink Hoodie gift knitting.  There is a bonus for you all with that.  I made a video of the e-wrap cast on for double beds.  I found the technique in a booklet called  “Alter It! Button It! Zip It!” by Mary Anne Oger.  I love it!  This doesn’t flare like some of the other cast on methods.  In the same 4 minute video I knit the ribbing and utilize my transfer carriage to return to single bed knitting.  Extra neat because it works perfectly.  I have not had problems with this transfer carriage as some people have described on other makes etc.    However this is a silent film, SORRY!  I was listening to copyrighted music and … singing away.  Which would have caused every single one of you to turn off your computers never to return to them again.  I also would probably get called on my taste in music and for royalties… or maybe they’d pay me never to sing along with them again.  Heh he he.  Not going to risk it either way.  Oh the song was Blame it on the Rain.I talk about my recent acquisitions of a couple of Knitting Magazines and discuss the pros and cons of a few.  I love them all and can’t find anything negative to say about any of the presently available publications.  My husband and daughter comment on the Pink Hoodie.

I also have a few folks lined up as guests for future podcasts.  I bet you are looking forward to that.  Listening to
me blather on for 1/2 an hour is going to get boring real fast.   It will be much more fun talking to others.  You can leave voice messages on yahoo messenger if you’d like.  If you don’t know my ID you can click on the handy dandy link right underneath the map on the right hand side of the site.  I can incorporate those messages into the podcasts.  As long as the messages are “clean and airable” you can be part of the podcasts too!.
Until next time!
